Renewed Debate - What is the purpose of ABC today?

Mark Scott, Managing Director of the ABC address the Australian Press today to firstly acknowledge and thank the public and Australian community for the outpour of condolences over the tragic loss of three of its finest and secondly to discuss the importance of the ABC in todays modern media climate.

You can read Mark Scott's speech on the ABC website: Defining the Modern ABC

This has rekindled the debate over the decisions being made by ABC with respect to outsourcing, internal production cuts and general funding decisions.  So what does today's speech mean? It raises the question which this campaign has been focused on:

What is the purpose and role of the ABC in today's society?

With the question now being raised and debated amoung the public this is now the opportunity for you to have your say in the Senate Inquiry. To request that the terms or reference are not sufficient to answer this question.

Until the 9th September you have an opportunity to request and demand for a broader inquiry, a full public inquiry of the ABC. An inquiry that answers the question about what the Australian public want for their ABC.

To have your say and your voice heard make a submission to the Senate Inquiry.
